These individuals were all multi-sport standouts who were top performers at Belmont and who continued to play least one of their sports at a high level after graduation. In the 1950's, there were not nearly as many post-secondary athletic options for grads, particularly for girls, so some of these Hall of Famers did not reach the same levels of achievement as many of the later Belmont sporting stars, not because of any less natural talent, but merely due to fewer opportunities and different societal expectations.
