This website was created to celebrate Belmont's rich athletic history and to preserve some of the memories and traditions from the past 67 years. A significant component is the unveiling of Belmont's Sports Hall of Fame that honours many outstanding athletes, teams, coaches and supporters who made significant contributions to the school's athletic program.
Eight grade 12 students, all of whom played on multiple Belmont teams during their three years at the school, formed a research group that played an integral role in this project. These students perused old yearbooks for photos and information, interviewed Hall of Fame recipients, produced many of the write-ups, created the power points for the photo gallery, and set up large display boards for the Farewell to Belmont celebration. Thanks to each one of them for their efforts.

There were many other people who made valuable contributions to this project. A number of current and past coaches volunteered their services to help determine the criteria, brainstorm possible Hall of Famers, and select the final recipients. These coaches were also very helpful in providing background information and in tracking down Belmont grads so that we could interview them about their achievements. Special mention to Muzz Bryant, who carefully examined his entire collection of 37 Belmont yearbooks to find possible Hall of Fame candidates and frequently shared his wealth of knowledge about the past thred decades of athletic history.
Many members of the community reminisced about their time at Belmont and donated pictures for the photo gallery or news clippings for the school archives. The personal stories and anecdotes from some of the former grads gave us a much better understanding of the sports scene in earlier decades and we thank them for their willingness to share their experiences and memories.
Special thanks to Belmont principal, Mr. Ray Miller, for his constant encouragement and support of this project.
The Belmont sports history project is a work-in-progress and we will hope to regularly update the information and photos on this website and to add new Hall of Fame athletes, teams and coaches as the years go by.
Please contact us if you have photos to donate, information to add to a particular section, nominations for Hall of Famers, or any other suggestions for the site.
